April 10, 2012

The +Folds of Honor Foundation announced Tuesday that Vince Gill will be honored and Rascal Flatts will perform a concert at a ceremony following the Patriot Cup celebrity pro-am golf tournament.

Beginning at 5 p.m. on May 28, a Patriot Cup Gala will feature a dinner and awards presentation followed by a benefit concert hosted by Rascal Flatts. A limited number of tickets for the gala are available to the public for $300 each and can be purchased starting April 12 through +“The Joint” ticket office or at +www.thepatriotcup.com.

“The gala continues to grow as a centerpiece for our community that reaches far beyond the Patriot Cup golf tournament,” said Major Dan Rooney, former F-16 fighter pilot and founder of the +Folds of Honor Foundation. “It really brings focus to the needs of families of our great soldiers. I promise it will be one of the most moving events anyone will ever attend. And, with Rascal Flatts on stage, it will be a great cap to an incredible Memorial Day weekend.”

Included in the awards presentation will be the third Corporal Brock Bucklin Patriot Award, which will be presented to Gill, a country music star and native Oklahoman. The first two recipients of the award were former President George H.W. Bush in 2010 and PGA Tour player Corey Pavin in 2011.

“The Corporal Brock Bucklin Patriot Award is the most prestigious honor awarded by the +Folds of Honor Foundation and is an integral part of the Patriot Cup,” Rooney said. “Vince Gill has been an incredible supporter of not only our organization but so many others. He truly understands the importance of giving back and we are proud to honor him.”

The Corporal Brock Bucklin Patriot Award is presented to an individual who displays unwavering, meritorious and extraordinary qualities of leadership, service and dedication to advancing genuine patriotism in America.

The Owasso-based +Folds of Honor Foundation provides educational scholarships to the spouses and dependents of soldiers killed or disabled while defending the U.S. Folds of Honor has provided more than 2,600 scholarships since the foundation was founded in 2007 by Major Dan Rooney, a former F-16 fighter pilot.
