RASCAL FLATTS COMPLETE SUCCESSFUL FIRST WEEK IN THE UK

July 17, 2013

Rascal Flatts recently completed a triumphant week in the UK, to launch their most recent album “Changed,” released in the UK via Decca Records.

An appearance on BBC TV’s flagship Breakfast News show (watched by over 1 million people) sent their most recent album to the No. 1 spot on both iTunes’ and Amazon’s Country pages, and was capped off by two sold out shows at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire. For much of the week, Rascal Flatts’ album sat above fellow Country superstars, Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum on iTunes. The album finished the week well inside the top 100 of the UK album chart – the band’s highest ever UK album chart position.

The band visited the UK in the course of a European tour, which also took in dates in Sweden, Norway and Ireland. The visit to the UK marked the first time the band has played in London, and all of the European concerts met with similar scenes of excitement from the band’s fans.

The capacity crowds at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire had clearly been waiting a long time to see the trio – and showed their enthusiasm and support by singing along with every word. Current hits “Come Wake Me Up” and “Banjo” appeared in the set, alongside the band’s illustrious back catalogue. Swedish superstar, Jill Johnson – with whom the band has performed and recorded – also made a guest appearance on stage.

Rascal Flatts were in the UK as part of the band’s “LIVE & LOUD 2013” world tour, which will continue now in the United States through fall of 2013.

Mike Bartlett, Director of Decca’s US Affiliates division said “It was great to welcome Rascal Flatts to the UK, and to see the incredible reaction to their live shows at first hand. Flatts are the latest band from Nashville to find an enthusiastic audience in London, and we look forward to being a part of their journey as they reach new fans around the world.”

Mark Hagan of BBC Radio 2 also commented, “I’ve never seen a London crowd react so quickly, positively & energetically to a band, who let’s not forget, are still very much an unknown quantity in the UK. The strength of that reaction says much more than I ever could about how great Flatts are as a touring band and how dedicated they are to bringing their music & their message to new audiences overseas.”
