Rascal Flatts Celebrate No. 1 Single & Platinum Album

August 4, 2011

Rascal Flatts had double the reason to celebrate during a party at Nashville’s Hard Rock Cafe yesterday as they celebrated their 13th No. 1 single “I Won’t Let Go” & the surprise announcement that their latest album Nothing Like This has gone platinum.

The album is the trio’s first release with the Big Machine Label Group. “This day and age there are not a lot of people going out and buying records, so to sell a million in this environment is truly a blessing and mind-blowing. What a great day,” said lead singer Gary Levox. The group’s Jay DeMarcus added, “We had a lot of goals that we set for our business and one of those was trying to go platinum.”

The party also centered on the success of Rascal Flatts’ latest single, “I Won’t Let Go,” a song that Jay says is on par with their signature ballad, “Bless the Broken Road.”

“The first time we heard [“I Won’t Let Go”], we thought it was a home run. It’s such a universal lyric that can mean so many things to different people,” he said. “We’re so happy for [songwriters] Jason Sellers and Steve Robinson. I think that song will be as timeless as ‘Broken Road’ has been in our career.”

With the first-week sales success of NOTHING LIKE THIS late last year, Rascal Flatts became one of only four country acts to debut six consecutive studio albums at #1. Since 2000, the band has sold more than 20 million albums and 25 million digital downloads and delivered 13 #1 singles to the top of the chart. Rascal Flatts is the most awarded country group of the past decade with over 40 trophies from the Academy of Country Music, American Music Awards, Country Music Association, People’s Choice Awards, American Country Awards and more. Since their touring career began, they have sold over 6 million concert tickets.
